MVCL Junior Six-A-Side Tournament

The first Junior Six-A-Side tournament of the Metro Vancouver Cricket League will be held at Sperling in Burnaby on May 19, 2008, from 9:00am - 3:00pm. Parents, family and friends of the junior players are invited to attend the event and watch our up and coming players in action.

MVCL Twenty20 Tournament
|
|
Plans were approved by the Management Committee for a 16 game season, in addition to which a Twenty20 tournament will be held by the MVCL. The winner of the tournament will be the recipient of CDN$3000.00 in cash, with cash prizes also for the runner up, best batsman and bowler. Information regarding registration process, rules, and fees will be provided shortly. In the meantime start getting your teams and colours together.

Metro Vancouver Cricket League Inaugural Season Starts..
|
The MVCL inaugural season got off to a flying start on April 26, 2008, as planned. Even the weather man cooperated and sent a warm, sunny day to greet the players as they took the field at the grounds to which they were assigned. Prior to the games friendships were renewed, stories were swapped about family and mutual friends, work and vacations taken and as to be expected, discussions on cricket, the IPL and ICL. It was then time to get down to the game itself.
The skies darkened the next day bringing rain in some areas but players did not allow this to dampen their enthusiasm.
Our sincere thanks go out to the various Parks Boards without whom this achievement would not have been possible; to the Vancouver Cricket Umpires? and Scorers? Association for their cooperation in providing umpires and scorers in spite of the short notice; to the Clubs for their patience and understanding as to why the schedule for the first week was late, and last but by no means least, to our loyal supporters and sponsors who have been with us all along the way. THANK YOU.

Sporting Gesture by SurreyHawks Cricket club

Sincere thanks and appreciation to SurreyHawks Cricket Club who took on as many as eight (or more if required) umpiring assignments on the first weekend of the season. This took the pressure off other clubs given the short time frame within which they had to obtain club umpires for the game. The MVCL commends the sporting gesture displayed by the Executive and members of SurreyHawks Cricket Club.

Registration Process
|
The MVCL Registration process is now in place. Clubs are asked to follow the directions provided in the email sent to Club Secretaries. It would help if clubs do not wait until the last minute to submit their registration forms. It is not necessary to send them all at one time; they can be submitted as and when the appropriate information is filled out on the form. Please make sure to fill the MVCL ID in the Registration Form before Faxing.

Women's Cricket
|
Women's Cricket is one of the projects which the Canadian Cricket Association is focusing on this year. They have requested provincial organizations and local leagues to work towards stimulating interest amongst women who would like to play the game.
The Metro Vancouver Cricket League is pleased to announce that Cliff Cox will be spearheading their efforts towards forming a local team. If you are interested in forming/joining a team please call him at 604-251-3342. We look forward to hearing from you.

MVCL announces over 40'S League 2008
|
The Over 40s League was established locally years ago by Cliff Cox to enable older players to continue mid-week recreational cricket outside League competition and to allow retired players an opportunity to return to the game on a casual basis. Mr. Cox continues to be the Co-ordinator of these games.
