Metro Vancouver Cricket League (MVCL) - Data Privacy Statement

The MVCL is concerned with the privacy of its members, however a certain amount of personal data is required in order to perform our functions. This statement outlines the data needed, its use by the MVCL, and your security.

Transfer of Data
The MVCL may transfer data to Cricket BC or the Canadian Cricket Association for the purposes of provincial and national cricket matters only. For example, we may provide a list of all players who are currently under 19 years old to Cricket BC to assist them in selecting an under-19 squad. The data transferred will contain only the necessary information, which would be name and date of birth in our example.

The MVCL may also transfer data to the park boards or the gaming commission, as it is common for them to request data. Again, the data transferred will only include the information required by these bodies.

Required Personal Data and Its Use

Required Personal Data	Use
ID number and name	These are obvious data items required to identify players and display results.
Address	Used for demographic data, which is often required by the parks boards or gaming commission.
Phone Numbers	Used by the league to contact members. It is not our preferred choice of communication; however it may be used in case of an emergency.
Email Address	Used by the league to contact members. CricketStar has a bulk email function, which can be used to send a message to all of the MVCL members if necessary.
Birth Date	Primarily used to identify eligible junior players. Important for determining who is eligible to play for multiple clubs, the junior player rebate given to clubs, and identifying select teams (eg. under-19 or over-40s).

All personal data will be used by the MVCL for league and cricket matters only. In no way will data be sold or used for advertising purposes.

Personal Data and MVCL.org (CricketStar)
Much of the above personal data is required on our registration form for insurance purposes, however this data must be added to MVCL.org (CricketStar) by the clubs. If the above personal data is not entered then there may be several consequences. For example, a junior player may not be identified for selection, a player may not receive an important league notice, and a club may not receive a junior player rebate.

The personal data stored in MVCL.org (CricketStar) is password protected and stored on a server in Mississauga, Ontario. FP Consulting Inc. is the company that developed CricketStar. The MVCL has a thorough contract with FP Consulting, which states that the data is owned solely by the MVCL.
